I find reading the magazine very useful as a reminder what plants, especially vegetables, to plant at different times, which seeds to start sowing, etc, It is inspiring to see what people are doing in different parts of the country, though I agree with a previous reviewer it would be useful to see more emphasis on smaller gardens, container gardens, etc. My main interest is encouraging people to grow some of their own food. This can be just one or two favourite vegetables in a pot, in a seperate garden, or fitted in around their existing garden. I would also like to see more emphasis in growing and using common garden herbs. Teaching people howto start saving their own seeds is another important topic in this age when many people are struggling financially

Thanks for your lovely review and great suggestions! We’re so glad you find NZ Gardener to be both useful and inspiring, and love that you have an interest in helping others grow their own food. We’ll pass these ideas on to Jo, our editor, for future content.

I look forward each month to the magazine and enjoy it. However my interest is mostly in vegetables and fruit trees, in a small difficult sloping garden so I wish there were more relevant articles on them and less on the rhapsodic eulogies for the large flower laden gardens.

Thanks so much for your review, we’re so pleased you enjoy the magazine! I’ll share your thoughts with Jo, our editor.

I find a lot of useful information in your lovely magazine (which I borrow from the library). I would like to see more articles featuring smaller gardens. I find the enormous gardens often featured, overwhelming. My garden is 750 sq metres and has mostly fruit and vegetables, with a few flowers including spring bulbs. It also has quite large background trees including a golden elm twice the height of my house. I really enjoy Joe Bennet's page!

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We’ve passed your comments about featuring more small gardens on to Jo, our editor. Your garden sounds like it would be beautiful!

I love getting my gardening magazine because of the practical articles about growing your own food.I would like more articles about dealing with downsizing, small town gardens and overcoming some deficits like flood damage etc in future.
I enjoy the feature gardens and specialty plants you feature but more often they are relevant to more tropical areas, I would like to see some more regions featuring.

We’re so pleased you’re enjoying the magazine, and we truly value your feedback. Your suggestions will be passed on to Jo.
