Stuff Print Subscriptions

These are the terms and conditions that apply to your print subscription to a newspaper or magazine published by Stuff (“Stuff Publication”). In these terms and conditions the subscriber is referred to as "you", and Stuff Limited is referred to as "Stuff", "we" or "us". We reserve the right to change these terms and conditions at any time. By subscribing to a Stuff Publication, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

Payment

All subscription prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST where applicable and are non-refundable for the subscription period. You are responsible for nominating your subscription period. You can pay for your subscription by internet banking, credit card (one off transaction fees may apply), direct debit, or via NZ Post ($1.50 counter charge will apply). All prices are inclusive of delivery costs unless otherwise stated (deliveries to rural or international addresses will incur additional charges that will be notified to you at the commencement and renewal of your subscription, selected magazine titles may incur postage charges at checkout).

One-off payments using any Visa, MasterCard or American Express card may be charged an additional fee of 2% (including GST). This fee does not apply to direct debit customers.

If you choose to receive your printed invoice/statement by post you will incur an additional $2.50 charge on your invoice per statement.

Where you receive an invoice/statement for your subscription you agree to pay your account by the due date shown. If you dispute any details on your invoice/statement you will need to inform us within 21 days of the date of the invoice/statement.

The undisputed part of the account is still payable by the due date. If you do not pay your account by the due date you may be liable for all costs of recovery and collection fees and we may refer your account to a third party for debt collection.  We may also suspend your subscription.

We will endeavour to send you notification of any price changes which may affect you. For paid in advance customers, price changes will take effect on renewal or on your next subscription period.

Customer details

Any errors made in providing details to Stuff are your responsibility. Stuff will not be liable for consequences that relate to any errors including but not limited to failure to deliver your subscription to the correct address.  If you change your address or contact details, you need to advise Stuff as soon as possible to ensure the continuous delivery of your subscription.

Recurring payment Direct Debit/Credit Card

Recurring payment by direct debit or continuous credit card authority is the easiest way to pay your subscription invoice, with the amount due debited automatically from your bank account or credit card on the 20th day of each month. The amount debited each month will only change when you suspend your home delivery while on holiday or we credit you for a missed delivery. Please note, as this is a "recurring" payment method, no surcharge will apply when using your credit or debit card.

By signing up to a recurring payment method, you grant Stuff a direct debit or continuous credit card authority for any Stuff products you subscribe to on your customer account, including newspapers and magazines.

We reserve the right to suppress all invoices where payment is made by direct debit or continuous credit card unless notified otherwise. If you provide your email address we may send all communications including billing to this email address.

For more information, see the frequently asked questions below.

Renewing your subscription

Your subscription will not expire and will renew automatically into the next subscription period. This means we will continue to deliver and charge you for such deliveries until you have notified us to stop delivery and your current subscription period has expired.

Magazine pre-paid subscriptions purchased via the Mag4Gifts website will not automatically renew at the end of your subscription period.  Before the end of your subscription period you will receive a renewal letter asking whether you wish to re-subscribe and providing instructions on how to do so.

Cancellation

You have the right to cancel your subscription at any time. You acknowledge and agree that any cancellation will only take effect on the last day of your subscription period.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I have to pay $2.50 if I want to receive a printed invoice/ statement by post?

As part of Stuff’s commitment to sustainability we are driven to minimise the amount of paper we use, and have chosen to digitise all of our subscriber communications where possible. Your invoice is free if you choose to receive it by email, however if you require a printed invoice sent by post, a $2.50 charge will be incurred to cover the costs of handling and postage. To switch to this option, please email us at subscribers@stuff.co.nz

How do I sign up for direct debit?

Recurring payment by direct debit or continuous credit card authority is the easiest way to pay your subscription invoice, with the amount due debited automatically from your bank account or credit card on the 20th day of each month. The amount debited each month will only change when you suspend your home delivery while on holiday or we credit you for a missed delivery or we have advised you of any price changes which may affect you. Please note, as this is a "recurring" payment method, no surcharge will apply when using your credit or debit card.

By signing up to a recurring payment method, you grant Stuff a direct debit or continuous credit card authority for any Stuff products you subscribe to.

Am I eligible for direct debit?

If you are a current subscriber you can change your payment plan option to direct debit.

What is the cost?

There is no cost to join up or to change to direct debit. Your usual bank fee for electronic transactions will apply.

When does my bank account get deducted?

On the 20th day of each month, or the next working day.

What happens to any balance if I switch from a monthly, six-monthly or 12-month account to direct debit?

If you are an existing subscriber paying by invoice and your Stuff subscription account has an outstanding balance, this balance will be added to your first direct debit payment. Carried forward credit balances will be deducted from your first direct debit payment.
